May 8th and 9th - Bantam and Midget Rep Tryouts

The Frontier Baseball Association has been created to allow communities to come together and form a regional team competing in Baseball Alberta midget and bantam division competitive divisions.

Mike Readman is managing the midget team and Jeff Ginter has agreed to head coach.  Peace River organizer - Darrell Rafferty, Mike and Jeff have committed to make this venture is a success in both age groups.  They are still looking for on-field assistants and a few others to help.

Details for Midget Players:

  • Tryouts the weekend of May 1-2

  • Alberta league play 2 weekends in June and 2 or 3 weekends in July (3 if we qualify for a provincial championship)

  • Players will register with home town associations

  • Practice mostly locally, the odd one is a central location (e.g. Rycroft)

  • Players already committed from Peace River, Grimshaw, and Dawson Creek.  Positive discussions ongoing and/or upcoming with Beaverlodge, Rycroft, Fairview, High Prairie and others.  A number of the players already committed have played Senior Wheat Belt League last year and I’m told our skill level will be high.

  • Desire to carry a larger roster in the event other commitments prevent some players from making every weekend of travel.

  • New quality apparel provided - uniforms, pro-fit caps, ball bags, t-shirts

  • One time fee, expected to be ballpark $200 per player

We're encouraged that this is a great program and would love to see our DC boys stay together on the same team.  There has been concern about whether or not there would be the numbers to create the midget program and we're happy to report that will not be a problem; in fact, it’s more likely we’ll be forced to make cuts.

If you would like more information regarding either the Bantam or Midget Rep Teams please contact our Midget Division Manager Mike Readman
