League Semi-final (June 22)
The Red Sox team won a 10-1 victory over the White Sox. Jessie Kurjata pitched 5 strong innings to earn the victory. Bjorn Carlstad, Jessie Kurjata, Lucas Mackenzie, and Jason Higson each scored two runs for the Red Sox. Travis Rowe scored the lone White Sox run. The game was hi-lighted by a circus catch by coach, Randy “Wheels” Carlstad. White Sox coach/player Mike Haaf (and puff) also had a strong game.
League Final (June 27)
Lucas Mackenzie, Bjorn Carlstad, and Jessie Kurjata pitched strongly to lead the Red Sox by the league leading Blue Jays 8-4. Lead-off hitter Elliot Holthe led the way with 3 runs including a first inning triple. Bjorn Carlstad, Lucas Mackenzie, Jessie Kurjata, and Jake Wandling also scored for the Red Sox. The Fredrickson clan (Grant, Bruce, and coach Dale) contributed 3 runs in the loss.
Thanks go out to the coaches, Mike Haaf, Randy Carlstad, and Dale Fredrickson for their dedication and support of the Bantam/Midget house program. The players need to also be thanked for their hard work, sportsmanship, and dedication to Dawson Creek Minor Baseball. It was a fun year!!
